Gosha Gibek-Brand is a truly European artist. Born in Poland, she travelled around Europe to live in Spain, finally settling in the UK where she finds beauty and inspiration in the towns of the North West.
Her paintings are an explosion of colour, which she believes can be attributed to her condition, Synaesthesia, where a sensation in one of the senses, such as hearing, triggers a sensation in another, such as taste. For Gosha, this manifests itself foremost in colour:
I can see them in every word; every name in my head would have its distinct colour. As one speaks it comes back to me in a form of a colourful wave. I seek colours in every matter, and bury them out from under the grim coat of Lancashire weather.
A keen cyclist, Gosha has produced a series of prints bursting with movement and energy. We also have a selection of cards showing her wonderful and vibrant views from around Clitheroe.
